The Good Soil Project

The Good Soil Project is a two year process

helping churches prepare for renewal.

Three times each year, teams from project churches are meeting in Grand Island for worship, sharing, training and prayer. Between events, local church Good Soil Teams: complete assignments that build on the training; pray for renewal in the Good Soil congregations; provide training to a sister church; and receive coaching to encourage church renewal.

The Good Soil project builds on valuable learnings from the experience of the National Small Church Team, and the Tri-Region “Tomorrow’s Harvest” model.

The Good Soil Project is not a rigid program but an adaptable process.

Training is based on what we find we need and in consultation with some of the best national leaders. Early on in the training the focus was on individual renewal. This included a focus on prayer, reading and studying the Bible, and other essential spiritual practices. Training is now moving to consideration of books and other resources about transformation and includes the preparation of mission statements, vision statements, action plans and their implementations.

The Good Soil Project . . .
is being made possible by a Frank E. Clark grant awarded to the American Baptist Churches of Nebraska as well as from the ABC/NE directly.

The Clark grant is intended for small churches in small communities and is given by ABC's National Ministries. The grant is designed to help churches achieve greater spiritual health and vitality, impacting their communities.
